Tactics: Databases and random order

Post by adelsur » Sun Nov 12, 2017 8:52 pm

Hello Alf!

Questions about the tactics board:

1. Where can I find databases for the tactics board?
2. Can the problems be shown in random order?

Thank you,
regards

Hi, how are you ? :)

There are some tactic databases in the pgn folder which comes with the zip. A tactic database is basically just a pgn with games like

Code: Select all

[setup "1"]
[eventdate "1998.??.??"]
[castle "1"]
[index "134"]
[ts "1487794126811"]
[event " White to move."]
[site "?"]
[date "1998.??.??"]
[round "?"]
[white "White mates in 7"]
[black "White mates in 7 1001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate"]
[result "1-0"]
[fen "r1bq3k/pp2R2p/3B1bp1/2pB1p2/2Pp4/3P2Q1/P1P3PP/6K1 w - - 0 1"]
[plycount "13"]

1. Qe5 Qxd6 2. Qxd6 Be6 3. Qxe6 Rf8 4. Rf7 Kg8 5. Qxf6 Rxf7 6. Qxf7+ Kh8 7. Qg8# (7. Qf6#) (7. Qf8#)

i.e. with a fen and with the moves for the solution.

2) The should be a "random" property which you should be able to use to show games in random order, i.e. add the random property to the chess shortcode: [chess random="1".....
